12.ance Intensive 2024 Artist/ Choreographer

Son Yu Joung, a dynamic choreographer and educator, was active in Korea until 2013, where she taught at various universities and presented numerous works in collaboration with artists globally, spanning Europe, the United States, and Japan. Since immigrating to Singapore in 2014, she started her own dance school and also began teaching at NAFA in 2016, blending her unique background in Korean traditional dance, which she has practiced alongside contemporary dance since the age of 10. Her unique trajectory reflects her commitment and pursuit of dance that extends beyond the Korean tradition, to encompass Asian contemporary dance, integrating elements of music, movement, and culture to create innovative choreography.
