12.ance has always grown out of our curiosities as dance practitioners and makers — the questions we carry, the ideas we encounter, and the discoveries we make along the way.
This year, we invite you to explore The Expanded Body with us — to discover what happens when dance moves beyond its familiar boundaries and meets other artistic practices. From music and theatre to visual arts, fashion, and the mixing of different dance genres, we're curious about how these intersections might open up new ways of moving, creating, performing and experiencing the body.
We will be introducing three new programmes this year — Intersections LAB, Intersections Exchange, and Continuum: An Improvisational Relay — each offering a different way to engage with dance, the arts, and one another. Come check them out!
Beyond the curatorial direction, 12.ance is, first and foremost, about people coming together through dance.
From technique-driven classes of various levels and immersive intensive to workshops open to all levels that introduce fresh ideas and perspectives, there's plenty to challenge the body, try something different, and enjoy the sheer pleasure of dancing.
This year's performance programme brings together international collaborations and a Singapore premiere, alongside exchange, lab, and jams that make space for improvisation, artistic exchange and various ways of experiencing dance.
Over three weeks, we invite local and international artists, dancers, makers, and curious individuals to share our space — to experiment, play, take creative risks, and discover new possibilities in our own bodies through working with other bodies, ideas and materials. There's room for things that don't quite work out, and for discoveries we couldn't have planned.
Whether you're here to dance, create, watch, participate, or simply see what it's all about, we hope you'll find something that speaks to you.

INTERSECTIONS EXCHANGE
OPEN CALL FOR DANCERS OF ALL STYLES:
An all-style battle, reconfigured.
Different movement practices, live musicians and shifting challenges. Part battle, part experiment, part conversation in movement. Apply by 5 Dec, 6pm!
WORKSHOPS
Spanning 1.5 to 3 hours, each workshop offers a focused space for exploration and exchange. Artists may share specific skills, improvisational, performance, or choreographic tools, or guide practices that open up awareness and perspectives. Each session supports exploration and development through diverse movement practices.
CLASSES
Each 1.5-hour class provides focused engagement with a range of movement techniques, guided by experienced artists and practitioners. Sessions build toward learning a movement phrase or phrases, combining technical rigour with expressive exploration.
CONTINUUM/ JAMS/ TALK
From open jam, guided dance and draw jam to improvisation relays, and talk by international dance producer, explore dance through different lens. Share the floor with fellow dancers and curious movers through spontaneous exchanges, playful encounters and collective exploration, as well as talk to people in the industry.
PERFORMANCES
Dance meets visual art in a Singapore premiere, an internationally toured duet takes the stage alongside a new creation with 12.ance Intensive participants, and musicians and dancers respond to one another in the moment through Unsound.Bodies. Come catch all three!
New this year: Intersections Exchange & Intersections LAB.
Not your usual dance performance! Watch artists from different disciplines and dance genres come together, from cross-disciplinary collaborations in Intersections LAB to an all-style battle reimagined through Intersections Exchange.
